Programs qualify successful graduates that pass their state board exams into entry level positions in Cosmetology, Esthetician, Esthetician & Nail Tech Combo, Nail Tech, and Instructor. Prices are subject to change without notice.

The Cosmetology Course is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in job entry-level positions in Cosmetology or a related career field. All of our courses are taught in English.

The Esthetician & Nail Tech Program Course is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in job entry-level positions in Cosmetology or a related career field. All of our courses are taught in English. At Fountain of Youth Academy, we strive to provide superior education. Since the time that the state made the hour requirements, science has provided many advanced techniques. We feel the standard of education must be raised in order to meet the need for highly skilled estheticians and nail techs. We add 75 hours to the Esthetician course because most states have higher hour requirements than PA. The Nail Tech course has an additional 25 hours so students have more practical skill time. Additional hours will ensure the students have the time to learn and practice new skills and techniques in this ever-changing field.

All of our courses are taught in English.

The Nail Tech Course is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in job entry-level positions in NAIL TECHNOLOGY or a related career field. All of our courses are taught in English.

The Instructor Course is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in job entry-level positions in INSTRUCTION FOR COSMETOLOGY or a related career field. All of our courses are taught in English.

All Academy programs are taught in the English language.

In compliance with the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology, students must be a minimum of 15 years of age to enroll in the Cosmetology, Esthetician, Nail Tech, and Esthetician & Nail Tech Combo programs, and 17 to enroll in the Instructor program.

Student must successfully complete the hours of their program to qualify to sit for their exam.

The Academy offers online classes. Act 77 was signed by the Governor on October 7th, 2021, and became effective 60 days after that date, on Monday, December 6, 2021. Act 77 provides that a school of cosmetology may provide up to fifty percent of the school's curriculum through distance education. A student at a school of cosmetology may only earn training hours under this paragraph through distance education theory-based subjects. A school of cosmetology may not provide the school's curriculum through distance education for practical demonstrations.

Upon completion of all curriculum requirements, the students must pass a comprehensive Academic and Practical exam prior to graduation from the program.

The student must meet with the teacher in person at the school once a month to have an assessment or the student cannot participate in distance learning.

The Academy utilizes Milady CIMA, laptop and GOOGLE MEET for distance education.

Academic achievement earned via distance education may not be accepted for reciprocity or eligible for licensure in other states. The school transcript will identify distance education as part of the program.

Students must be aware and fully understand that distance education may not be accepted for reciprocity or eligible for licensure in other states.

This information is given to students prior to enrollment at Fountain of Youth Academy of Cosmetology.

67% attendance of scheduled hours and 70% in grades are required to keep financial aid.

The Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy is consistently applied to all students enrolled in the Cosmetology, Esthetician & Nail Tech Combo, Esthetician, Nail Tech, and Instructor programs, whether participating in Title IV programs or not. The catalog is online to ensure that all students have access all of the time. The policy complies with the guidelines established by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) and the federal regulations established by the United States Department of Education. The Academy is required to notify students of all evaluation results.

Students are required to attend a minimum of 67% of the hours possible based on the applicable attendance schedule in order to be considered maintaining satisfactory attendance progress.

Students must maintain a written grade average of 70%.

There are many opportunities that exist for employment in the beauty industry. There are a number of prerequisites for employment such as possessing a license from the State of Pennsylvania Board of Cosmetology, proof of citizenship (or permission from the US government to work) and meeting minimum age requirements.

Factors that might prevent employment could include not being able to meet the physical demands of the position. For example, Cosmetologists spend many hours on their feet providing customer service. This puts a lot of pressure and stress on the feet and back. Since most employers do pre-employment background checks, individuals with criminal records (especially felonies) might find the job market very challenging. Different employers demand different levels and expertise for the minimum performance standards they set for their employees. The beauty salon is a retail environment and many employers set work hours that vary throughout the year that may present some individuals a challenge in dealing with family or other life responsibilities.
